Unpaid Professional Internships in Canada offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in English to learn the language and business of their field of study.
Your Professional Unpaid Internship in Canada begins after you are finished school for the year. It may last anywhere from 4 to 24 weeks. Once you begin your internship you will complete online reports. They will help us stay connected to you during your internship. If you have any questions, concerns or difficulties during your internship we will work with you and your host company to find solutions. Remember, you must successfully complete your internship to graduate from VGC. To be successful, you need an enthusiastic attitude and must be dedicated to the program.
To be eligible for Vancouver Study and Work, you must complete Level 6 in either the General English Plus (24 hr) or English for Academic Studies (30 hr) programs. VGC’s friendly internship coordinators will help prepare you for your Professional Unpaid Internship. After reviewing your work history, your educational background and your English skills, our experienced counsellors will make personalized suggestions and help find the most suitable placement for you. We will help you write your resume and prepare you to answer interview questions confidently and accurately.
Your VGC Language School courses will prepare you for your internship. Morning English classes will build the English foundations needed for success, while afternoon elective classes will help you focus your learning to ready you for your unpaid internship. These electives focus on specialized and often complex English language such as Business English, Global Social Issues or Public Speaking. Through these electives you will have the opportunity to tailor your English education to best suit your learning goals, preparing you to meet and surpass the demands of your Vancouver internship.
