Utilize the English that you learned in the classroom while gaining international work experience and earning some money. This program gives you an opportunity to study and work in Canada. Immerse yourself in Canadian workplace English and learn hands-on business skills. It’s the perfect way for you to add to your resume and your bank accounts!
The Combined Placement Internship is a combination of our Unpaid Professional Internship and the Casual Study & Work Internship. These are our two most popular Vancouver internship programs. You will split your time between two internship positions—one professional, one casual.
During the professional portion of the internship, you will be placed in a field of your choice. Our experienced counsellors will review your educational background, work history and English ability to help make personalized suggestions. They will help you find the most suitable placement to match your learning goals. There are many placement options available in a wide variety of fields. You may choose from accounting, fashion, software development, education, and more. These positions are an unpaid internship, but offer students a great opportunity to refine their English in the Canadian workplace while gaining relevant international experience.
During the casual aspect of the internship, students will generally be placed in a service-industry job. You may meet Canadians working in an international restaurant or become a part of Vancouver’s buzzing coffee scene as a barista. Placement in a casual position is guaranteed. All casual positions are paid internships in Canada, so you can expect a regular working wage.
To enter the Combined Placement internships in Vancouver, you must complete Level 6 of either the General English Plus or English for Academic Purposes programs. Both English language courses teach communication classes in the morning. These classes include foundation skills like speaking, listening, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary skills. In the afternoon, your chosen elective classes teach you more specific language skills. All of your classes will help prepare you for your internships in Canada.
The Combined Placement internships in Vancouver are a great opportunity to practice your English in both a professional and casual setting. Although this program is not intended for career training, you will gain valuable international work experience while practicing your English skills.
