Studying a new language in a foreign country is an exciting and memorable experience. At VGC we know that there is more to learning English in Vancouver than simply sitting in a classroom! A truly successful experience studying abroad is one that immerses the student in the culture and allows them to discover a country, culture—and hopefully—themselves! At VGC, we know that in order to make the international language study experience truly fulfilling, students need a comfortable and welcoming environment that promotes interaction with the world beyond the walls of the classroom.

Depending on the English program you are enrolled in, your days will vary. Some students will only attend classes until lunch time. Others will have classes until later in the afternoon. Students also have the option of studying in our language labs until late at night.
In between classes and after school is social time. English should be spoken at all times. When speaking only English to your new friends, you will feel your skill level increasing. Also, there are different social activities and events going on during this time. It is also a wonderful way to help each other.
Vancouver is a world class tourist destination. There is never a shortage of things to do! Whether it is white water rafting, exploring art galleries and museums, hiking through pristine forests that are hundreds of years old or simply relaxing on one of Vancouver’s many public beaches, this city has something for everybody. Our activity coordinator will suggest things for you to do and places to see.
The school also coordinates trips to surrounding cities such as Whistler, Victoria, and Seattle. You can race down an Olympic grade ski hill, browse the city’s designer shops or get up close and personal with a killer whale at the Stanley Park Aquarium. Vancouver is the best place on Earth to enjoy your student life!
