Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program prepares students who are looking to enter higher education or the work force. The EAP is our most comprehensive English course and the most effective for improving your English in a short period of time. Our goal is to have you discussing any topic fluently and accurately with your own voice and opinion. If you plan to study at a college or university or if you wish to work full time in Canada, the English for Academic Purposes is an essential building block for success.
The English for Academic Purposes course has 30 hours of interactive and enjoyable classes every week. Every day, there are two English Communication classes in the morning with a social break in between. During breaks you can chat with friends, study in the nearby park, or check out one of the many delicious cafes in Gastown. After lunch, you will take your elective class, which offers you the opportunity to specialize your English skills. Please click here to learn more about our elective classes. The afternoon is divided between social time and an advanced class in English academic reading and writing.
After a full day of school, take a deep breath and join in the school’s social activities. Social activities are a fun way to make new friends and practice your English skills. Vancouver is a natural paradise with something to offer for everybody, and VGC’s Activities Coordinators are happy to show you the best parts of the city. Go out with your friends to the stunning mountains, fantastic shopping, and a thriving night-scene. You’ve earned it!
To ensure you are on track to reach your English goals, our highly qualified teachers conduct personal meetings with you every two weeks. They carefully review your progress and offer feedback and encouragement to help improve your English fluency. Our teachers are happy to help you with areas of difficulty, and you are always welcome to stay after class and work in our state of the art computer lab. Together, we will help you reach your goals.
English for Academic Purposes is a 9-Level English language course. It is designed to meet the needs of beginner and lower-advanced English students. When complete, you will be prepared to bridge into our advanced TOEFL or IELTS test preparation courses. 
By Level 6 of EAP, you may apply for study and work programs in Vancouver.
