VGC’s General English course in Vancouver is the perfect introduction for newcomers to the English language. With 18 hours of classes a week, the General English course is a balanced international study program that allows students the opportunity to discover and experience Canadian life and culture while they study.
Each day, there are two English Communication classes. VGC’s TESL qualified teachers take pride in their highly interactive and enjoyable classes. In class, you play games, engage in debates, refine those tricky grammar points and you will be sure to have fun and laugh! Having a fun and comfortable learning experience keeps you engaged and helps you succeed.
In between the classes there is a social break. You can have a snack, chat to your new friends or play a round of Nintendo Wii in our comfortable lounge. You’ll be relaxed and start your next class refreshed and ready to learn. Daily classes finish about lunchtime.
After school, you are encouraged to join in the school’s social activities. It is the perfect way to make great new friends and practice your English! With your afternoons free, you have a unique opportunity to experience Vancouver’s city and culture. Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and snow-capped coastal mountains, Vancouver is a natural paradise with something to offer for everybody. You can ride a bike through beautiful Stanley Park, visit the art galleries and museums, learn to snowboard or dance the day away at the Jazz Festival. Vancouver is never short of things to do! You can always talk to one of our Activities Coordinators to find out what events are happening at VGC or to get some help planning your own adventure.
The General English course in Vancouver is a 9-level language program. Your understanding and fluency of English will improve every week. Our teachers are very friendly, helpful and experienced. They want you to succeed in English. They monitor your progress very closely. Every two weeks, you will have a personal meeting with your teachers. They review your progress and offer you feedback and encouragement. By the time you finish, you will be ready to prepare for your Vancouver IELTS exam, TOEFL exam or University Pathway.
